Different types of waxing equipment include wax warmers, waxing cloths, and various skin treatment products for use before and after waxing. Other equipment includes sticks for spreading wax, waxing beds, and disposable undergarments for use by clients during the waxing process. To determine which types of equipment are appropriate for purchase, a person generally needs to consider how it will be used. Professional waxers will need different equipment and products than non-professional waxers. Wax for hair removal that is done professionally is typically available in several different formulations, allowing waxers to select a preparation that works well for them and their clients.

Waxing is a form of hair removal in which waxes spread over an area of skin. A strip of cloth is placed over the wax and then pulled away in the opposite direction of hair growth. This pulls out the hair by the root, and it usually takes several weeks for the hair to grow back. Many people prefer waxing over other types of hair removal, such as shaving or plucking, because it is quick and offers long-lasting results. While professional waxers may need several different types of waxing equipment in order to meet individual customer needs, most home waxers don't need extensive supplies and may even be able to purchase a kit that includes everything that they need to perform a waxing on themselves.

Many professional and home waxers use hot wax during treatments. The use of hot wax requires waxing equipment that can heat the wax to a safe temperature and then hold it at that temperature so that it can be used by professional waxers during the day. In some cases, a wax heater may have several different sections for heating different types of wax to be used on various areas of the body. Many companies also sell cotton fabric for use during the process of hair removal. Some retailers sell pre-cut strips, while others sell larger pieces of cloth that can be cut according to the waxer's preference.

As waxing can be irritating to the skin, many companies offer a wide selection of skin care products designed for waxing use. For example, some waxing equipment companies sell a special disinfectant cleanser that can remove dirt, oil, and bacteria from the skin prior to a waxing treatment. There are also various oils that are sold to remove any wax residue and soothe the skin after waxing. Another option is a cooling lotion or gel that can help relieve discomfort immediately after waxing.
