What is a Hoodie?
A hoodie is the urban version of the traditional cotton or poly blend zipper-front or pullover, large-pocketed, hooded sweatshirt. It is meant to be unique signature clothing with one-of-a-kind style. Hoodies often have screen-printed designs on the back, sometimes running down the sleeves. Having the same sweatshirt as someone else is normally a faux pas, and someone who discovers the duplication will probably buy a different one. Hoodies can be tied around the waist when it gets too hot, but they aren't tied around the shoulders or neck.
A pullover hoodie features a single large pocket in front, while the zippered version splits the pocket in two. The pockets are handy for carrying MP3 players, cell phones, outside candy into a theater, or just about anything else.
Hoodies look smart for any occasion from the open-zippered, derring-do bathrobe look, to the dashing hoodie-under-a-hoodie formal dinner wear look. They also make excellent sitting mats for that impromptu meeting in the park or that aggravating wait in the alley.
People don't usually share their hoodies, so if someone asks to wear someone elses, he or she may want to check the pockets before entering a courthouse.
Finding a unique hoodie might be tough, so many people look outside of local sources. Stand-alone hoodies can be found, especially when vacationing, and shoppers may want to visit tourist shops to find something unique.
Hoodies are a staple of surfers, skateboarders, snowboarders, and others who will never be sports-inclined at all. A beloved one is revered, rarely washed and highly valued, and the more miles someone has on the sweatshirt, the more importance it acquires. Hoodies, like fine wine, only get better with age.
Hoodie clothing is a trend now.
