Organic shampoos are hair cleansing products that are composed of natural elements rather than synthetic ingredients. The natural shampoo makes use of herbs and other ingredients found in nature to create a blend that helps to remove excess oil and dirt from the hair, leaving behind a healthy sheen. Often, organic hair shampoos are paired with organic conditioners as a means of keeping the hair healthy and shiny.

There are a number of organic shampoo recipes available today. Many include herbs that leave behind a clean scent as well as remove oil and dirt from each hair follicle. Herbs such as peppermint, aloe vera, and rosemary are often included in the recipes for both their cleansing action and their ability to nourish the hair. For the most part, the ingredients for a completely organic shampoo can be purchased at produce stands and herb shops.

Making a natural conditioner at home often involves using ingredients similar to those used in the creation of the organic shampoo. In some cases, the recipe yields a product that serves as an effective organic shampoo and conditioner combination, making it possible to cleanse the hair naturally without any additional steps required.

When preparing organic shampoo at home, the recommendation is usually to prepare a small amount for use over no more than a period of a few days. The homemade product is normally stored in the refrigerator, which helps to slow down the decomposition of the ingredients and keeps the shampoo viable for a longer amount of time.

While many people assume that an organic shampoo would not cause any type of adverse reaction, that is not necessarily the case. Allergies to organic compounds do occur in some people. In general, it is a good idea to test a small amount of the organic product on a section of skin, such as a small area of the forearm, to determine if the product causes any type of rash or discoloration.

There are also commercial brands that are classified as organic shampoo products. Depending on the regulations in place within a specific nation, these natural shampoos may contain some synthetic elements along with the organic ingredients. Often, the additives are present to help maintain the texture and freshness of the product over long periods of time and do not interfere with the function of the natural elements contained in the product. However, people who choose to use organic shampoo due to allergic reactions to specific synthetic additives should always check the ingredients in a given product, even if it is classified as organic.

Do homemade shampoos help retain color in hair?

Redding Hair Care products are as close to organic as you can get without making your own and refrigerating. You can only get them at salons, but they're worth it!

I think there is some confusion about natural and organic shampoos. They're not the same thing. A shampoo can be natural but not organic. An organic shampoo is a shampoo with ingredients that are organically produced.

@donasmrs-- That's not surprising. Our scalp is used to shampoos with chemicals and harsh ingredients. So it might take some time for our scalp and hair to adjust to organic shampoos. But believe me, organic shampoo is better for you.

Do you have oily scalp and hair? If so, you should choose an organic shampoo without oil. Many organic shampoos include natural oils. These shampoos are best for people with normal and dry hair. If you have oily hair, I recommend aloe vera, nettle or chamomile shampoo.

Also, organic shampoos do lather, but not as much as other shampoos. Regular shampoos have chemicals that cause hair to lather a lot.

When I started eating organic and using more organic products, I decided to switch to natural organic shampoo as well. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I don't know if it's because I'm used to regular shampoo, but it did not feel like the organic shampoo cleaned my hair and scalp. There wasn't much lather and my scalp still felt a bit oily afterward. I only used organic shampoo a few times and then switched back to my regular shampoo.
